Innocence is a heartfelt love story for the ages which shows that passionate love and lust are not just for the young. Andreas (Charles Tingwell) is a retired, widowed, music teacher, reliant on his daughter for companionship and support. Possessed by magical memories from his days as a young music student in post-war Belgium and his love for a passionate young woman named Claire (Julia Blake), he tracks her down through a series of correspondences and orchestrates a precipitous meeting. Claire has been in a loveless marriage for the last 20 years and, when she encounters Andreas once again, the two instantly find their romantic passions rekindled, picking up where they left off 40 years ago. Innocence is one of the most novel, heartening films of the year.
“Traditionally romantic and brazenly subversive.” – Toronto Star
“Here is the most passionate and tender love story in many years. A song of joy and hope.” – Roger Ebert, The Chicago Sun-Times
